CRPC is designated as the 11-parish region’s economic development district by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) and serves as the local development district for the federal-state agency, Delta Regional Authority (DRA). Staff works with its member governing jurisdictions, municipal and parish governments, non-profits, and businesses to support existing and new jobs; pursue infrastructure and resources that enable business and industry development; and generate opportunities for outside investment to be drawn into the region. CRPC staff provides technical assistance in the project development/packaging and project administration/guidance of federal and state funding opportunities.
Additionally, CRPC is in charge of maintaining the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS), as required by EDA. The CEDS is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic roadmap to diversify and strengthen regional economies. The CEDS serves as a guide for establishing regional goals and objectives, developing and implementing a regional plan of action, and identifying investment priorities and funding sources. The Public Works and Economic Development Act of 1965 requires a CEDS in order to apply for investment assistance under EDA’s Public Works or Economic Adjustment Assistance Programs.
