Brian Matherne is an environmental scientist serving as the Region 7 Watershed Coordinator for the Louisiana Watershed Initiative. He works with local stakeholders on funding opportunities to mitigate flood risks and improve water quality.  Passionate about education and outreach, 2019 Brian was recognized as an “Advocate” by the Society for Science & the Public for his science research mentorship work of underserved high school students in Baton Rouge.
