The Capital Region Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan will establish a unified vision for walking and bicycling across the region, with goals, objectives, strategies, and performance measures that provide a framework for coordinated actions and investments in walking and bicycling by various government agencies and stakeholders. The recreation of this long-range planning document will fuse inspiration and ideas from Capital Region residents and guidance from key community stakeholders with technical analysis of current conditions and needs and best practices in bicycle and pedestrian network planning and facility design.
Walking and bicycling are on the rise in the Capital Region. Through numerous planning studies completed in recent years, area residents have voiced their desire to see a safer, more connected system of paths to support walking and bicycling. Whether through new trails and greenways connecting people to parks and other community destinations, or safer sidewalks and bike lanes to provide access to schools, transit, and employment opportunities, people in the Capital Region want more places to walk and bike.
