Land Use

When government officials, business leaders, and citizens come together to build communities that enrich people's lives, that's planning.  Land use planning aims to create order and regulate land use in an efficient and ethical way, which, in turn, reduces land use conflicts.  Land use planning considers the needs and desires of the community along with economic development, transportation improvements, infrastructure improvements, environmental constraints, and population trends.  These issues are often considered on a broad scale as part of a comprehensive plan.  A Comprehensive Plan expresses a vision for future development that is agreed upon by the community through a public process.  CRPC staff is available to assist local governments in the development of Comprehensive Land Use Plans as well as zoning ordinances and updates.
